Day 2 - Escape to the country side

I found myself investigating the house. Still dazed from what had happened just a short while ago, I moved through the house with great caution. There seemed to be overturned furniture everywhere and signs of a struggle. There was blood and silence. This did not bode well. I heard  a faint beeping sound and moved to investigate. I found an answering machine of all things with a few messages on it.

I wanted to learn more of my situation, so I listened to the messages. Things in Atlanta sound very, very bad. What I heard did not put me in any better spirits. I was given a bit of a fright when I heard a voice in the kitchen. I moved away from the machine and slowly crept into the kitchen in search for that voice. I rummaged through the cupboards and drawers to find a walky-talkie. I spoke into it not expecting a reply when a girl spoke on the other end telling me to be a little more quite.

I found out this girl was waiting for her parents to come home and she had been hiding in her tree-house with no ladder so those "things" could not get in. Smart little girl. I heard her scream, which made me turn around in time to find one of those "things" right behind me. I found myself in a fight for my life. I fought the thing off with all my strength and found I was slowly losing - but like a miracle from heaven, the girl was behind me handing me a hammer. I snatched the hammer from her hand and began to viscously smash in the head of what used to be a young woman. Out of breath and extremely grateful  I catch my breath and get to know the little girl a little more.

I find out that her name is Clementine and does not want to stay in the tree-house another night. I decide to take action during the daylight as I do not trust the night. We head out through the back and head towards the main street. We saw two men trying to move cars out of the way in a panic. I find out their names are Shawn and Ched. We find ourselves being surrounded by these "things", these walkers. I helped Shawn push the cars out of the way while Ched kept on the lookout. Needless to say, all four of us managed to escape with the skin of our teeth. By this time, I was getting real sick of these walkers that keep popping up.

We stopped at Shawn's farm for the night where Shawn's father, Hershel, helped bandage my leg. He set us up the barn for the night to get somewhat of a good nights rest so we could tackle the new day...
